This week, "Pages" hit its milestone for early autumn: release the Impression Build for testing and feedback. I name it this because it is a long way from a vertical slice, containing little in the way of art assets, and lacking the complete suite of gameplay. The goal, however, is for a tester to get a rough idea of what the game is intended to be. To that end, the build includes a number of core elements:
-the revised mechanics seen in the previous update -some example dialogue between the two characters -A music loop for the demo level and menu -Examples of lighting and greybox environment assets Check under the break for screenshots and the music sample! Moving forward, the gameplay will be further refined as feedback is collected on this build, and I will begin work on the first art assets to be put into the game! I'll also begin work on the second character theme, and finalize the first draft of the story. We're on the road to GDC 2019, so please keep an eye out for updates.

The second version of the core gameplay mechanics has been cleaned up. This one more heavily emphasizes the use of the book, your primary tool in the game. The original version had predetermined locations where the player could act, and animations would make the action feel more animated. In this version, the book is an object that can be thrown by the player freely.
